Refrigerant 134а (Tetrafluoroethane, R134а, Freon 134а, Halocarbon 134a) is a colorless gas with weak specific odor. It is the main substitute of Freon R12 in refrigeration systems working at middle temperatures. It is used as a refrigerant in refrigeration, industrial equipment, air conditioning systems, and as a propellant (gas displacer) and blowing agent for plastic foams.

Refrigerant 134а (Tetrafluoroethane, R134а, Freon 134а, Halocarbon 134a) is non-toxic and readily combustible gas. Flash point is 750°C. In case of contact with flames and hot surfaces decomposes forming highly toxic products. Thermal decomposition: required around 250°C depending on the conditions (include on the contact surface). Flammability limits in air are not available.

Refrigerant 134а (Tetrafluoroethane, R134а, Freon 134а, Halocarbon 134a) is packed in steel cylinders working under pressure. Filling (charging, pumping) factor not more than 1kg on 1 dm3 of cylinder capacity. The product is stored in warehouse, under a canopy or in open air avoiding direct sunlight. All types of carriage in compliance with hazardous goods rules transport R134a.
