Refrigerant 114B (1,1,2,2-Dibromotetrafluoroethane, R114B2, Freon 114B2, Halon-2402) is heavy colorless liquid with a specific odor, not easily combustible and fire resistant. It is used as phlegmatizer, strong inhibitor of hydrocarbon fuel burning and a highly efficient fire-extinguishing substance.

Lower and upper concentration limits of 114B2 (1,1,2,2-Dibromotetrafluoroethane, R114B2, Freon 114B2, Halon-2402) vapor flame spreading in air are absent, in oxygen they are 28 - 54% (vol.). Ignition temperature of vapor-air mixtures is 450°С, self-ignition temperature in air is 580°С. The product interacts with alkali metals and alkali-earth metals (in finely dispersed state).

R114B2 is a strategically important item in the market of fire-extinguishing cooling agents, since it is mainly use in military industry. Decree of Russian Federation Government stopped its production in 2000. Its export and import are prohibit. Refrigerant 114B2 is use inside the country cyclically, by way of regeneration of used product.

Refrigerant 114B2 (1,1,2,2-Dibromotetrafluoroethane, R114B2, Freon 114B2, Halon-2402) is poured into aluminum tare and also into leak proof polyethylene bottles of high density. Filling factor around 2kg on 1 liter of packing capacity. All types transport R114B2. It is allowable to transport refrigerant 114B2 in open automobiles, covered with tarpaulin top. It is stored in manufacturer's containers in covered storage areas in conditions that do not allow direct sunlight at the distance of not less than 1m from heating devices. It is prohibited to store it with explosive products, alkali and alkali-earth metals.
